A little motivation- Con un poco de Motivacion

Jocie is now past 9 months and with no interest of crawling. She hates being on her tummy since the very first day we brought her home. I have let her get away with it and thought I wouldn't force her to do it if she wasn't ready. I know, wrong idea! and it got worse when she figuered out how to roll over off of her tummy. Well, this week I learned that everything is possible with little motivation and out came the animal crackers. She was so angry at first but knew that if she wanted to get to it she would need to stay on her tummy and figuere out a way to do it. Since then she has been picking up speed and has gotten really good at it. She still does not crawl but she is geting ready to do it.

So close and yet so far!

Tan cerca y la vez tan lejos!

Almost there!
Ya casi!

Sister Hernandez- Hermana Hernandez

Sister Hernandez is doing good and even though she has asks us not to mention it when we write to her, she's only got 4 more months to go and then she will be home!! YAY! She is so cool and we all love her and miss her a lot. We are so pleased with her and her willingness to serve a mission for the Church. I can't wait to see her and be able to hug her. I was pregnant when she left, so we are so excited to see her bawling her eyes out when she meets Jocie and sees Naomi again. Here are some pictures of Sister Hernandez on her mission. Enjoy!

No puedo esperar a verla y poder abrazarla. Disfruten!

With her companion Sister Veliz. Seems like they work good together because they have kept them together for a while now.

Con su compa, la Hna. Veliz.

In love with a camel, hee-hee!

Se enamoro de un camello, Je-je!

Nice weekend

This has been a nice relaxing weekend. Friday we got to feed the missionaries, we fed them 3 times this week, and got done with dinner early which gave us time for a quick escape to the park with the girls before bed time. Big sister wanted to see the ducks, so we went to the sugar house park and walked around the little lake. The evening was a bit windy and we happened to have a kite in the car. The girls were so very excited to see it fly. Naomi was able to hold the string and fly it all on her own. It was a nice little evening. Then today, Saturday, we went running in the morning with my little sister Itza. She's been wanting to run, but does not have someone to go with her and I've told her not to go by herself, so this morning dad brought her over and we went running together at the Liberty Park. Aaron, Itza and I went around the park once, after that they were done and I kept going for two more laps. 'Buelito stayed with Naomi chasing the ducks and riding the ferris-wheel and carousel. Jocie came running with me and took a nice toasty nap, the sun kept hitting her face, I felt bad but it did not seem to bother her. Then, after having worked an appetite we stopped to pay a visit at IHOP (hee-hee!) and met up with some friends, had lunch and then headed home to put the girls down for a nap. My sister Itza stayed with them while Aaron and I went to the store to get our groceries. After that we got lots of visitors through the rest of the day. Tia Tatis and her boyfriend Don-Hee came over and stayed for dinner. Grandma Kelli and Papi Mark (somehow Naomi won't call him grandpa, but it's really cute when she calls him "Papi Mark") also stopped by to visit. The missionaries also came over for dinner and then Aaron's friend Skyler came to watch the Jazz game with him. Now they are upstairs watching their game while I blog (hee-hee). Tomorrow, Sunday, we will have a good day at church, stop by my parents after that and then go over to uncle Joel and auntie Mandi's for dinner. Told you it was a nice weekend :) Hope you have a nice weekend too!

Running- Correr

It's now been a month since I got back to running and I feel great! A week or two after that I was inspired by a friend and started training to enter a 5K race. All of the sudden running for me took a whole different meaning and stopped being only about loosing the weight. It is now about pushing myself and learning what I am capable of doing that I didn't know before.I can feel myself getting faster and stronger everyday and finding it exciting when I make a better time. Believe it or not, it's kinnda fun. Well, I guess being inspired is contagious because Aaron is now joining me on my quest every morning (that is the goal, even though it doesn't always works that way) before he goes to work. Even my little sister and my dad are doing it. I'm still planning on entering a race in another month. Aaron's training will take longer, fall or even later, we'll see. Anyway, wish us luck and let us know if you want to race with us in the next month or in the fall!

The family- La familia

This is my family here in Utah. Not very many compared to the real number, 10 children on each side of my parents family tells you everything. Anyway, I think this is the first picture ever taken where nobody is missing, Oh wait, tio Juan is missing, well it's close. (Who is that cute gringo in the blue shirt? He-he!)

Je-je!)

Cute as a button. Lindo como un boton?

To my cousin's request, I am now doing this in english and spanish. I had actually thought of it before, but had been a bum about it thinking that some of the family in Mexico undestands english, at least that's what I think. Anyway, Brenda, your wish is my command.
She loves picking flowers, is her favorite thing to do when we go on walks.
Seems like little sister has picked up on it too.
Parece que la pequeñita va aprendiendo tambien.

Too cute for words.

Demasiado lindo para describir.

Veggie Garden- Huerto

Last year we took our first shot at planting a veggie garden. I have to admit it did not go very well. We planted tomatoes, carrots, onions, radishes, peas and zucchinis. The only thing that gave good were the zucchinis, everything else either didn't grow or grew very little. So this year we'll give it another try hoping to have learned from our mistakes. We are planting zucchinis (of course), peppers, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans. I have seen rasberry bushes around the neighborhood. One day Naomi and I could not help but picking some, they were really good, she would not stop eating them. So we are planting a couple of those as well, one of golden rasberries and the other one red rasberries. I met a nice lady at the store while picking my seeds and she gave me some good pointers, for starters not to plant until May 10th. I guess that's like a rule here in Utah that we did not know of. Hopefully this season will be a better one for us!

I told her to drop only two.

Le dije que pusiera solo dos.

I turned around and what does she do? Stuff a whole bunch into a cup. I don't know what got into her.

Cute little moments

I have not posted many pictures lately, but I do take them all the time and they are way too cute to just keep stored in my computer without sharing them with you all to see. Here are a few of them. Enjoy!

Sleeping. She loves her Osito. She has to have it in order to fall asleep.

Eating her first finger foods, whole peas. She did not know what to think about them at first.

Crazy about tofu! She loves it. She could eat a whole packet in one sitting if a let her.

After a bath. Isn't she adorable!?

Feeding cheerios to her little friends.

She is such a good sister.

And again being a good sister. That day I had to stop feeding Josie to go do something else real quick, and of course she did not like that. She started grunting and complaining and all of the sudden she stopped. I was surprised at how quiet it got. I went to check on her and there they were, big sister feeding little sister.

Conference weekend

We had a good conference weekend. Once again we did not go downtown for our traditional Sunday Conference pic-nic. The weather was a bit cold and it would have been a disaster to have the girls go half a day without a nap. We decided that staying home would be best. Naomi and I baked a carrot cake before the first session started, she is mommy's little helper. She likes to mix and stir and drip cake mix all over the counter top and floor. She likes to put her little hands in the dry ingredients and shake them all up. She hates cracking the eggs and getting her hands dirty...Wew! she says. And then she loves looking at the cake bake through the stove's glass...Cool! she says. After that we put her in our room to watch a movie. I know! I did not want to do that, but then was glad that we were able to watch conference without any interruption. Josie was a little angel too, she did really good. She watched conference with us for a little bit and then she was ready for a nap and slept almost through the whole thing. Between sessions we had lunch with some friends from the Branch, we ate some good food and carrot cake and then came back home on time to watch the second session. The girls did practically the same thing for the second session. We were able to watch conference in the comfort of our own home and I actually think I liked it more than going downtown. My favorite talk was by Elder Ballard. He talked on the subject of motherhood. Everything he said was right what I needed to hear and left me feeling so much better. I realized that I have room to improve, but also that I am doing a good job. Most important that my good job might not be the same as someone else's good job because we all have different circumstances and abilities. He said so many good things I will have to post his talk when it becomes available. Anyway, I love Conference!

baby poo-poo and mommy poo-poo

I just had to blog this because it's so funny. Naomi is on the process of potty training. She goes the whole day without a diaper, she is actually very good at staying clean and dry, sometimes we do have some accidents, but for the most part she is good at holding it and not going until we take her potty, at night she does wear a diaper and a lot of times wakes up dry. We are using the sticker strategy and rewarding her after she has earned 5 stickers or so, sometimes I forget to keep track. She loves coloring, so, so far that's what she has gotten, coloring books. She doesn't let us know when she needs to go yet. I have calculated the times a day she should be ready to go and take her then. Anyway, the other morning we went potty after we were done having breakfast and asked her to go do a poo-poo, and she did. She then looked at it and there was a little poo-poo and a bigger poo-poo ( sorry if it is too graphic, he-he!) and she said the funniest thing, I still laugh when I think about it, "Oooh... baby poo-poo and mommy poo-poo!" I cracked out laughing. Children are so cute! Anyway, I thought if anyone needed a laugh maybe this would do. Have a great conference weekend!

A Good Night As A Family

(posted by Aaron)
Monday night (March 31, 2008) we had a good night. We had dinner as a family. Then we had a small Family Home Evening lesson that we all participated in. Then we went for Ice Cream as a family. After that we came home and put the girls to bed. It sounds uneventful, but it was a lot of fun. We took some cute video of the girls. Here are a few of them.

Jocie and I were talking and I decided to share some of that talk with you all. It was a cute cute moment.

Then we decided to go sing the new song that Naomi learned. Here is a clip of it so that you can see how funny she is when she sings it. The last line is her favorite.

Needless to say, I had an awesome time. It was a really fun night. They are two really sweet girls. I wanted to show these to all of you, because you don't get to see them enough.
