One Summer Day.

The weather could not have been any better for a little exploration through the Red Butter Gardens and a picnic at the Sugar House Park. Sharing it with our friends made it even better.
At the Red Butte Gardens they played in the children's garden. Then winded through the gardens to the "Secret Garden" where we found a Geocache, and of course a creek! So throwing pebbles in it was in order. Then onto the fish pond and then the Rose Garden. Here they first staged a dance performance that developed into a play about ninja warriors and their grass blade swords. We left to make it on time to their swimming lesson, which made them really hungry so a picnic at the park only made sense.
Once all fueled up, they somehow found their way onto, yes, the creek and enjoyed throwing some more pebbles into the water. Seems like it's becoming a theme for them these days. They are just so attracted to water, and I don't mind. They can throw pebbles into that creek to their little heart's content.
Then that hill in the distance must have seem so very tempting. They followed each other until they all made it all the way up, even little Ry.
These kids have energy that would outdo the little energizer bunny, any day, hands down!
I love to see them at play. I love to see their little imagination going, and their little, but strong, legs carrying them to wherever they want to go- even little Ry's, who struggles, but does a pretty good job at keeping up.

Wish It was summer every day...or not but three months will do ;)

Must. Keep. Up!

Fishing.

Warm, overcast days are our favorite.

She is six!

She is six!

She had a good day, filled with friends, family and good food (She chose to go out for sushi.) She was a little disappointed though, to learn that her shoe size does not automatically go up with her age number. HA!

Happy birthday little Jo!

Fathers day photo shoot.

This might look cute now. But if you notice there is not ONE picture where they are all smiling, looking at the camera and holding the letters the right way up ALL at the SAME time.

Oh well! We tried! and dad liked them anyway. I did too.

Hiking

We started off the Summer with a very ambitious goal of going on a hike every week on Fridays. So far it's has only worked ONCE. The one  place we have been to is called Ghost Falls at the Corner Canyons in Draper. After getting lost for about 45 mins, we finally found the right trail which we hiked on for  about another hour and a half to get to the falls. The weather was great, in the higher 80's, and the girls impressed me with how well they did. They get better every year. There was a little whining but they stuck it up and kept walking with a promise of a frozen yogurt treat on the way home- Everyone can use a little motivation, right?  Ry-guy did awesome and just took it all in, even took a little nap towards the end. If you are ever up there watch for rattle snakes, my sister and Jojo actually heard one and run for their dear lives.

Here are a few pictures from the girls' point of view- I took a camera to keep their minds busy during the hike, it helped a LOT.

 Getting started.

 Pretty Flowers.

The girls thought this boulder looked like a turtle. I think it looks like a dinosaur.

 Pretty good shot!

Bugs.

You can definitely tell a short little person took this one.

52 days

I can't believe a whole month of summer vacations has gone by already! As of today we have 52 days of Summer left to enjoy. I'm only counting them down because I will be sad to have them go back to school and I want to make the most of them. I know a little guy at home that will be the VERY bummed about it.
I've tried to keep it fun and have kept them very busy. Today I heard the first "Mom, I'm bored" coming from Jo. I think spending the afternoon at home because Naomi started feeling sick in the middle of the day might have had to do with it. I quickly fixed it with a nice stack of folded laundry to put away :)

Some of the things we did  this week:

Swimming and pic-nicking at the Park.

All three of my babies have spent many summer days at this park.

A visit to the Arts Museum after spending a week learning about Famous Artist and painting styles.

 Eyeing that pizza.

 Manti Pageant.

Ready to sleep watch the Pageant with our friends.

I'm trying to take more pictures because I realized that for a while there I stopped taking them and I do not want to forget this precious stages when they are still my little babies and I am still their favorite person (most of the time.) This way, when they have turned into teenage monsters, this will remind them that they once loved me and I used to be fun.
